Documentary wedding photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland
A specialist of natural & authentic photography. As a professional wedding photographer, I capture genuine emotions in a documentary style - focusing on narrative storytelling. I care about your wedding day as much as you do, appreciating the history, art and architecture, as well as the natural beauty of Scotland.
I cover weddings, elopements and portraits all over Scotland, from Edinburgh to the Highlands & Islands - featuring iconic locations such as the Royal Mile, Stockbridge, Glen Etive & Glencoe, Loch an Eilein on the Rothiemurcus Estate, Achmelvich Beach and as far as the Isle of Skye. With over 15 years’ experience, I’m inspired by Scotland’s rich history and stunning landscapes - blending these elements to create timeless, unique photographs and allowing the moments to unfold.
Olivia and Jon - The Old Course, St Andrews
“Robbie was warm, kind and put us at ease, as well as being easy to communicate with in the months leading up to the day. Robbie’s responsiveness was especially important as we were trying to plan a wedding in Scotland from New York. Robbie took the time to get to know us and understand where we’d want our portraits. Most importantly, the photographs are absolutely stunning and we are so delighted with them. Robbie somehow managed to be everywhere over the course of the day and the photos really reflect the happiness and amazing atmosphere. We would 100% recommend Robbie.”
Andy and Diane - Dundas Castle, South Queensferry
“Having Robbie as our photographer has proven to be one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Throughout the entire process - from the initial planning stages to the actual wedding day - Robbie consistently offered invaluable information and support. He went above and beyond by suggesting a pre-wedding photoshoot; a gesture that exceeded our expectations. Beyond the exceptional quality of his work, Robbie's down-to-earth nature and genuine personality created a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for us throughout the entire experience. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Robbie for capturing those precious moments on our special day.”

Style
Natural and individual; I like to reflect the personalities of couples, through my photography - in an authentic way. I document the flow and mood of each event in a relaxed way.
Approach
It’s not only about capturing the best photographs possible; the narrative, including location, is considered as important. It is also a priority to me to understand how the experience feels throughout. I’m here to provide advice and support along the way.
Advice
From finding perfect viewpoints, to making the day your own, I have been through the journey with many couples and can offer my own insights. Most of all, your wedding should be an enjoyable day with family and friends, or even just the two of you. I am here to ensure you have an amazing time with beautiful and honest photography to look back on.
About Robbie
With 15 years’ experience, I’ve covered over 750 weddings and events while working with Duke Scotland from 2009 onwards, and continue to collaborate on projects - offering couples and commercial clients the flexibility of having up to two photographers. I currently specialise in weddings, elopements and portraits; I’m also interested in landscape, architectural and product photography. I was born in Perthshire and have lived in Scotland all my life. My design background includes studies in Landscape Architecture at the ECA and Product Design in Glasgow. I’m dedicated to capturing your personal stories and look forward to hearing your creative ideas - bringing them to life through beautiful galleries, albums and framed prints.
Inspiration
I value integrity, transparency, and going the extra mile. My work is influenced by photography icons such as W. Eugene Smith, whose legacy speaks for itself, and Philip-Lorca diCorcia, whose vibrant colour film photography and ability to capture candid moments, like in his 'Heads' series, bring me a lot of joy. I’m also inspired by Elliott Erwitt, particularly his quote: 'I am obsessed with dogs—because they remind me of people, but with more hair.' Other photographers who currently inspire me include Nadav Kander, Martin Schoeller, and Phil Penman, whose work I enjoy following on Instagram.

Xandria and Michael - Glenfinnan Viaduct, Highlands
“We are beyond excited at the possibility of working with Robbie again when we find ourselves back in Scotland. He will always be the reason we have such beautiful evidence of one of the most special moments of our lives. Being from Toronto and having never been to Scotland, I relied heavily on Robbie for recommendations, and he delivered in a big way. He not only suggested the perfect spot for the engagement, complete with photographs, but also provided additional location options across the Highlands to consider. Robbie arrived well in advance of the shoot. He captured the special moment beautifully and when we ran out of time, he kindly offered to meet us again in Edinburgh for a couple more hours. We were completely and utterly blown away by the images. The love between us was captured so perfectly, and the magic of Scotland made for the most stunning backdrop.”
